The story so far
A meter across the wings. Eats birds. Eats rodents. Eats other bats. The spectral bat is the New World's largest bat and its most honest predator — no trickery, just the night's best hunter doing what hunters do. Spectrewing runs the Night Bloom's hunting grounds with old-world courtesy: the bow before the strike, the share after the kill, the law that no hunter takes a mother with young. The prey species respect him, which is the strangest sentence in this whole record and also true. He has bowed to Veindrinker every dusk for longer than anyone remembers.
