The living story
The story so far
Duchess descends from sled-pulling Spitz, and the six-pound body is the one thing she has never forgiven the universe for. She was carried home in a teacup as a puppy and decided immediately that she was not the pet — she was the appointment. The good cushion has been her throne ever since, and the household schedule now quietly runs around her nap.
Happening now
She has instituted a tribute system: anyone who wishes to sit on the good cushion must produce chicken. The humans comply. They tell themselves it is cute, which is exactly what she wants them to think.
What may come
Winter is coming, and Duchess intends to be carried through it like a small fur-covered empress. She has begun sitting beside the good coat — the one with the deep pocket — and staring at it meaningfully.
