Gizmo's ancestors cleared Victorian textile mills of rats, working in silk coats with steel nerves. Gizmo has never seen a rat. He has, however, cleared the kitchen of an unsupervised rotisserie chicken — a feat his ancestors would have respected. The ratter instinct is intact; the target has been updated.
He patrols the house at dusk, checking the baseboards for movement. Last night he stood guard over a dropped grape for forty minutes, certain it was suspicious. It was a grape. He has filed no report.
