The living story
The story so far
He was alone in Nun, the dark water, and made himself — the oldest texts are explicit that the self-creation was a bodily act — and from it came Shu and Tefnut, air and moisture. He stood on the first mound at Heliopolis and wept, and the priests say his tears became mankind.
Happening now
He sits at the head of the Nine Thrones and rarely speaks; precedent is his only weapon. Every family argument ends the moment someone asks what Atum thinks, and he answers, as it was in the beginning.
What may come
If the world ever needs making a second time, he is the only one alive who knows the procedure. The priests keep the benben mound polished, just in case.
