The story so far
Aysheaia looked like a cactus that learned to walk, and lived like it had never heard of hurry: sponge for breakfast, sponge for dinner, ten pairs of legs going nowhere in particular. Cactus has kept the program. In the Undertow they are the Last Ones' head gardener — the memory-gardens, where the recently vanished plant remembrances of sunlight, thrive under Cactus's stubby, meticulous hands. Ask Cactus about ambition and they will look at you the way a cactus looks at rain: puzzled that you'd want more.
