The story so far
Atopodentatus unicus — the Triassic's hammer-jawed marine reptile, a wide flat filter-feeding muzzle for sifting the reefs, known from very few specimens 242 million years ago. Hammerjaw knows what it is to be almost unknown. In the Undertow they are the Iron Tide's sifter: while the armored ones posture and the fast ones hunt, they work the tide-pools slowly, thoroughly, finding what the current tried to bury — lost things, old debts, the truth under the silt. Priscus, the faction's armored venom-bearer, respects the thoroughness. 'The current,' Hammerjaw says, 'buries everything eventually. I just dig slower than it buries.' They are the faction's proof that few specimens can still mean much presence.
