Archaeoindris fontoynontii: 350 pounds of sloth lemur — the largest primate Madagascar ever produced, the size of a gorilla, hanging from branches and browsing like a slow-motion king. Slothking has the realm's most distinctive philosophy, delivered upside-down: 'The world,' he says, hanging, 'looks different from down here. Better. Try it.' The Last Ones' hanging sage. He counsels the grieving from his branch — slowly, serenely, inverted — and the perspective genuinely helps. The grief looks different upside-down. Smaller. Survivable. He's right. He's always right. It's infuriating, and wonderful.
