The story so far
Megaladapis edwardsi: the giant koala lemur, 180 pounds — the size of an orangutan — browsing the forests of Madagascar with a koala's face and a giant's appetite. Koala has kept the whole program: in the Undertow she browses Cactus's memory-gardens, reaching the high leaves with long grasping arms, serene as only a leaf-eater can be. The Last Ones' gentlest grazer. She remembers the forests — the real ones, the green ones — and she tells the young ones about them while she browses. 'The leaves,' she says, 'are always there. You just have to reach.'
