Keeper of the vault lamps. His abdomen lights the buprestid coffers, and he charges by the blink — union rates, strictly enforced.
The lamps have been flickering in patterns, and he swears he isn't doing it. The Jewel Beetles swear they aren't either. The lamps decline to comment.
If something in the vault is learning to signal, the Firefly will be the first to read it — he is, after all, the professional. He has begun arriving at the Red Moment Vault early and leaving late, which the Jewel Beetles find either diligent or suspicious, and they cannot decide which.
