She was the fastest hatchling in a clutch of fast hatchlings, and the others gave up competing by her second shed. Speed was never the point, though — the point was that nobody could ever catch her long enough to tell her what to do.
She runs messages between the factions now, because she is the only one fast enough to outrun the news itself. If Sirocco brings you word, it is already old news to her.
They say she is saving her true speed for something — one perfect run, someday, for a reason worth it. Nobody knows what. She smiles when asked, which for a mamba is basically a confession.
