The story so far
Kelenken guillermoi: the terror bird with the largest skull in the family — twenty-eight inches of head, built for the killing bite, on a neck engineered like a siege tower. Bighead has turned the hardware into a discipline: in the Undertow he is the Sundered South's philosopher of force — he lectures on leverage, on the physics of the bite, on why power works. The South's cheerful anarchy loves him: he's the only philosopher whose demonstrations involve a battering-ram skull. 'Force,' he says, tapping the great head, 'is just truth with mass.' The young ones quote him. He's not sure they understand him. He keeps lecturing.
