The story so far
Arthropleura armata: 8.5 feet of millipede — the largest land invertebrate ever to walk the Earth — armored plates, dozens of legs, leaving trackways a yard wide through the Permian coal forests 290 million years ago. Trackway walked when the Crawling Dark's faction was young water. In the Undertow they are the pathfinder: they follow trails nobody else can see — the old currents, the remembered rivers, the ways the dead walked before there were walkers. Sting, the faction's mapmaker, draws their routes in red ink. 'The trails,' Trackway says, 'are still there. The water remembers. I just listen.' They're blind to faces and unerring with paths, which the faction finds perfectly reasonable.
