The living story
The story so far
Perseids is born from the dust trail of Comet Swift-Tuttle, and every August she falls to Earth in a shower of sixty to a hundred meteors an hour. She has been the year's biggest sky-party for centuries, and no court throws a better festival than her mid-August blaze.
Happening now
It is September now, so she is resting and re-seeding Swift-Tuttle's wide trail with fresh dust for next year's show. She likes to say August is her birth month and the whole planet celebrates it.
What may come
In 2028 her shower will peak on a moonless night, and she is already rehearsing. The courts have asked her to open their solstice gala, and she said yes — but only if the Moon stays dark.
