The living story
The story so far
It lives in the deepest mud on Earth — sediment at the bottom of the trenches, where the pressure is eight hundred atmospheres and the mud is older than mountains. The Trench Bristleworm burrows through it bristle by bristle, eating what the mud offers, asking for nothing.
Happening now
It works the floor's darkest sediments in its slow burrows, bristles sweeping. The anemones bloom above; the brittle stars regenerate around; the Bristleworm keeps to the mud, where it's quiet.
What may come
The mud remembers everything — every fall, every bone, every century. The Bristleworm is reading it bristle by bristle. One day it will burrow into a layer that tells a new story.
