The living story
The story so far
He found her in the lightless dark — a miracle of scent and luck — and he never let go. Literally: the male seadevil fused permanently to the female's flank, his body merging into hers until they share one bloodstream. The Joined is two anglerfish living as one: her lure, his devotion, their shared blood.
Happening now
They cruise the Midnight as one body with two histories, the esca swaying overhead. The Black Seadevil studies them like a mirror — this is her own fate, made visible. The Treaty of the Lure protects their shared light doubly.
What may come
Fusion is forever — there is no unfusing. The Joined's daughters will repeat the story: the finding, the fusing, the one bloodstream. In the Midnight, this is what love looks like, anatomically.
