The living story
The story so far
Three hundred and ninety million years ago, she was the ocean's rumor made flesh — a meter of armored claw that haunted shallow seas while the first plants were still learning to be forests. Then the scientists re-examined the fossils and broke the news: sea scorpion, not spider. Megarachne kept the meter. She kept the claws. She kept both reputations.
Happening now
She drifts through the Unspun's deep-shadow gatherings like a visiting dignitary, letting younger spiders tell her the old scary stories about herself. She has never once corrected the size. Correction would be shorter.
What may come
The next generation of fossils may change her name again — taxonomy is restless. Megarachne has decided that whatever the textbooks print next, she will simply grow into it the way she grew into everything else.
