From Character to Avatar: Inside the SonnRays Avatar Lab

The method behind the experiments: how a static Spark becomes an interactive avatar concept.

From Character to Avatar: Inside the SonnRays Avatar Lab — SonnRays

Every Avatar Lab experiment follows the same journey — the path from static collectible to interactive personality:

Original artwork → avatar interpretation → personality → voice → movement → interactive character → digital identity.

It starts with the finished portrait — the reference everything else follows. Then the questions: how would this character carry itself? Pyrothon paces slowly, his living-flame mane rippling when he speaks. Nova drifts instead of walking, tiny carried stars trailing behind. Shade melts between shadows and reappears somewhere funnier.

Voice comes next — not a synthetic gimmick, but a personality you can hear. Cindertail sounds like a blanket fort. Zorp sounds like it came for the snacks and stayed for the selfies. Then dialogue: three lines in the Spark’s own voice, the fastest way to meet someone.

These are concept explorations, not products — love letters to the interactive future, starring characters you can actually collect today. But the method is the point: a character designed with identity, memory, and consistency is already most of the way to being someone you can talk to.
